On the 22nd, Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority, together with the Gyeonggi Province branch of the Korea Special Mission Veterans Association, conducted underwater and waterfront cleanup activities around Jebu Marina in Hwaseong City.
The Pyeongtaek Port Authority collected marine debris threatening the marine ecosystem, such as underwater waste, discarded ropes, and remnants of fishing gear, through underwater cleanup operations. In addition, various types of plastic, cans, and glass bottles discarded along the nearby coast and waterfront areas were collected.

Kim Seokgu, President of Pyeongtaek Port Authority, stated, "The issue of marine litter goes beyond simple environmental pollution and is a serious challenge directly linked to the marine ecosystem and public safety. Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority will continue to carry out regular and systematic underwater cleanup activities, expand various marine environment conservation projects, and foster a social atmosphere that encourages voluntary participation."
The Pyeongtaek Port Authority plans to sort and collect the waste gathered during this cleanup activity by type and ensure it is processed through proper legal procedures.
Meanwhile, Jebu Marina, which opened in June 2021, is the largest marina in Gyeonggi Province, with a capacity to accommodate a total of 300 vessels-176 at sea and 124 on the water. By the end of 2025, customer convenience facilities such as a clubhouse and a ship repair shop will be fully established.
