On August 22, the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters held a special concert by the Volunteer Fire Brigade Harmony Orchestra in the lobby on the first floor of its headquarters in Paldal-gu, Suwon.
The concert was organized under the theme "Today, a Pause with Music" to provide employees with a moment of rest and comfort amid the intense work environment of the fire department.
The Volunteer Harmony Orchestra, established in May, is a musical group composed of volunteer firefighters. With 30 members, the orchestra holds regular performances and music experience activities, fostering communication with residents of the province.
On this day, in particular, a group of ten brass musicians took the stage, performing familiar pieces such as movie soundtracks and popular songs. The program was designed so that staff could easily enjoy a break from their work responsibilities.

Kim Jaebyung, Director of the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters, stated, "The Volunteer Fire Brigade is not just a name present at fire scenes; in the face of danger, they become a shield, and on stage, they protect hearts through music. I hope today's music becomes more than just a brief pause in the daily lives of our staff and continues to resonate as the spirit of 'Firefighters Together' for a long time."
Meanwhile, according to a survey by the National Fire Agency, 7.2% of all firefighters experienced post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) last year.
