The Eastern Gyeongnam Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs successfully held the "Time Capsule Sealing Ceremony for the 100th Anniversary of Liberation" at Chilwon Middle School on August 22, with students and faculty participating together.
This event was organized to honor the noble spirit of independence and patriotism of our ancestors and to pass these values on to future generations.
The time capsule sealed on this day will deliver the dreams, hopes, and aspirations for Korea of the current students of Chilwon Middle School to the future generation that will celebrate the 100th anniversary of liberation in 2045.
Inside the capsule, precious records written by members of the Chilwon Middle School educational community?including students, parents, and teachers?were included, reflecting on the spirit of independence activists.
The Eastern Gyeongnam Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs plans to provide a video capturing the sincere presentations of students sharing the contents to be placed in the time capsule, commemorative performances, and interviews with students and teachers, so that it can be used during school events.
Principal Jeong Myeongae emphasized the significance of the event, saying, "Preparing for this time capsule ceremony has provided a valuable educational opportunity for students to correctly recognize the proud history of Korea and to develop a sense of ownership for the future. I look forward to seeing how these students will have grown into outstanding citizens when the capsule is opened in 20 years."
Director Kim Sangwoo stated, "I expect that the time capsule will become a meaningful link connecting the past, present, and future, serving as an opportunity not only for Chilwon Middle School students but also for the entire local community to once again reflect on the meaning of patriotism and historical awareness."
