The Gwangju Community Chest of Korea (hereinafter referred to as Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae) announced on the 22nd that it held a ceremony to deliver support funds for heating and cooling expenses to social welfare facilities.

The ceremony, held at the Nanum Culture Hall on the second floor of Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae on this day, was attended by Koo Jaegil, President of Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae; Han Jihoon, President, and Kang Mijeong, Vice President, of the Gwangju Association of Group Homes for the Disabled; Kang Sujin, Vice President of the Gwangju Association of Daycare Centers for the Disabled; Jung Daeseong, Deputy Branch President, and Yang Gwanghyeon, Secretary, of the Gwangju Branch of the Korea Association of Group Homes for Children and Youth; and Choi Gangnim, Head, and Yoon Seokran, Team Leader, of the Gwangju Support Group for Local Children's Centers.

Through its 2025 planned heating and cooling expense support project, Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae will provide support for heating and cooling expenses and public utility charges for residents and users of small-scale social welfare facilities in the Gwangju area. This initiative is expected to help alleviate difficulties during periods of extreme heat and cold.

Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae has selected four intermediary organizations (the Gwangju Association of Group Homes for the Disabled, the Gwangju Metropolitan Association of Daycare Centers for the Disabled, the Gwangju Branch of the Korea Association of Group Homes for Children and Youth, and the Gwangju Support Group for Local Children's Centers) and will provide a total of 300 million won. The funds will be distributed to cover heating and cooling expenses at approximately 440 social welfare facilities affiliated with these intermediary organizations.

Koo Jaegil, President of Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae, stated, "We all need to pay attention so that vulnerable groups, who are struggling even more due to the climate crisis, can stay healthy during the heat wave," and added, "Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae will continue to do its best to ensure our neighbors can lead healthy daily lives."
