According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, August 22 will see mostly cloudy skies nationwide, with morning lows forecast between 23 and 27 degrees Celsius and daytime highs ranging from 30 to 37 degrees Celsius.

Showers are expected in some southern regions.

Localized showers of 5 to 40 mm are expected in inland Jeolla, Daegu, southern Gyeongbuk, Ulsan, and inland Gyeongnam, while Jeju Island may see 5 to 20 mm of rain between the afternoon and evening. Some areas may experience gusty winds accompanied by thunder and lightning, so caution is advised to prevent accidents.

While temperatures may drop somewhat during the showers, the heat is expected to intensify again after the rain stops due to high humidity.

The expected minimum temperatures in major cities are as follows: Seoul 25°C, Incheon 26°C, Suwon 25°C, Chuncheon 24°C, Gangneung 27°C, Daejeon 26°C, Daegu 25°C, Jeonju 26°C, Gwangju 25°C, Busan 26°C, and Jeju 27°C.

The expected maximum temperatures are: Seoul 33°C, Incheon 30°C, Suwon 31°C, Chuncheon 33°C, Gangneung 35°C, Daejeon 34°C, Daegu 36°C, Jeonju 35°C, Gwangju 33°C, Busan 33°C, and Jeju 33°C.

In urban and coastal areas, nighttime temperatures are not expected to fall below 25 degrees Celsius, resulting in tropical nights in many locations.

Fine dust concentrations are expected to remain at 'good' to 'moderate' levels nationwide due to smooth atmospheric dispersion.

However, ozone levels are forecast to reach 'bad' levels in parts of Gyeonggi, Chungbuk, Jeonnam, Yeongnam, and most southern regions, so caution is advised when going outdoors in the afternoon.

Wave heights are expected to range from 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the East and South Seas, and from 0.5 to 1.0 meters in the West Sea. In the offshore areas (up to about 200 km from the coastline), wave heights are forecast to be 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the East, West, and South Seas.

Although Cheoseo marks the beginning of autumn in the traditional calendar, the sweltering heat is expected to persist into the weekend as the Tibetan High and North Pacific High remain firmly established over the Korean Peninsula.
