Minsol Kim Sets 10-Under Course Record with Perfect Putter Switch

Leads the First Round of the BC Card·Hankyung Ladies Cup
Former National Team Ace Claims Four Dream Tour Wins This Year
Virtually Secures Next Season's Regular Tour Seed, Poised to Make Waves

Minsol Kim, a former national team ace, created a sensation at a regular tour event.

On August 21, at the Garden·Palace Course (par 72, 6,663 yards) of Pocheon Hills Country Club in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, she played the first round of the BC Card·Hankyung Ladies Cup on the KLPGA Tour (total prize money 1.5 billion won). Without a single bogey, she recorded one eagle and eight birdies. With a 10-under-par 62, she set a new course record, surpassing the previous record of 9-under-par 63 set by Siwon Kim in the final round of this tournament in 2019 by one stroke.

This season, Minsol Kim has secured four victories on the KLPGA Dream (second division) Tour, placing her at the top of the money rankings and virtually guaranteeing her regular tour card for next season. She has also demonstrated impressive skills in the regular tour events she occasionally enters. Last week, at the Mediheal·Hankook Ilbo Championship, she tied the course record (7-under-par 65) and shared the lead after the first round. At that event, she slowed down in the third round and finished tied for third place.

After achieving her career-best round, Minsol Kim expressed her excitement, saying, "Last week, I thought my shots weren't working well, but this week, everything came together. I got through the round without major difficulties and I'm happy to have set a new course record." She added, "Before my fourth Dream Tour win last month, I switched to a center-shafted putter, and since last week, my putting has been working well. I believe putting will be the most important factor in the remaining rounds, so I will focus on distance control as I play."
