On the 21st, Gwangju City held a final briefing session in the small conference room at city hall on the progress of the 'Gwangju 2025 World Archery Championships and World Para Archery Championships' to conduct a final check on the preparations for the event.
The session was presided over by Deputy Mayor for Culture and Economy Kim Youngmoon, and was attended by officials from Gwangju City, district offices, and the organizing committee. They reviewed overall preparations such as transportation and logistics plans, safety, accommodation, tourism, and publicity, and discussed cooperation strategies among the various organizations.
To ensure smooth movement and stay for athletes and spectators during the championships, the city will deploy more than 370 buses for the duration of the World Archery Championships. For the World Para Archery Championships, special buses equipped with wheelchair lifts will be intensively operated for 11 days.
In particular, for spectators, the city will operate the 'Gwangju Tourism DRT' to support convenient travel between the stadiums and tourist attractions. Routes will connect the Gwangju International Archery Center, the May 18 Democratic Plaza, and major tourist sites, allowing visitors to enjoy both the competitions and Gwangju's attractions.
Additionally, a total of nine hotels with over 800 rooms have been secured for the athletes, and balanced meals and comfortable accommodations have been arranged to help them perform at their best.
This year’s championships are expected to attract approximately 1,000 participants, including 731 people from 76 countries for the World Archery Championships and 390 people from 43 countries for the World Para Archery Championships. The city is thoroughly managing transportation, safety, and accommodation to ensure the successful hosting of the event in anticipation of large numbers of participants and domestic and international visitors.
Deputy Mayor for Culture and Economy Kim Youngmoon stated, "Gwangju has successfully hosted major international events such as the 2015 Summer Universiade and the 2019 World Aquatics Championships. During the remaining period, we will do our utmost to ensure that participants and visitors can enjoy a comfortable, safe, and pleasant stay through thorough pre-event inspections and close cooperation among the organizing committee, related agencies, and district offices."
Meanwhile, under the theme 'Echo of Peace,' the World Archery Championships will be held from September 5 to 12, and the World Para Archery Championships from September 22 to 28, at the Gwangju International Archery Center and the May 18 Democratic Plaza.
