Kim Is in an Extremely Weakened State
Unable to Sustain Prolonged Conversations
The legal team representing Kim Gunhee, who is currently in custody, has refuted attorney Shin Pyung's claim that Kim stated, "Former People Power Party leader Han Donghoon betrayed me" during a meeting with Shin, calling the allegation untrue.

On the 21st, Kim's attorney Yoo Junghwa issued a statement saying, "After meeting with Kim yesterday, it was clearly confirmed that the statement, 'If Han Donghoon (former People Power Party leader) had not betrayed me, he would have enjoyed infinite glory,' did not come from Kim."
Attorney Yoo pointed out, "It is difficult to comprehend that Mr. Shin, who is not an appointed attorney, met Kim without authorization at the request of a particular reporter, gave interviews to the media, and made numerous comments on this sensitive case." Yoo continued, "Such actions can seriously undermine the rights and interests of the parties involved and pose a dangerous risk of causing irreparable harm to future court proceedings."
Attorney Shin, once regarded as a 'mentor' to former President Yoon Sukyeol, is known to have had a close relationship with Kim in the past.
Attorney Yoo added, "Mr. Shin continues his improper conduct by distorting and conveying his own political views and imagination as if they were Kim's statements," and said, "For Mr. Shin to proactively add his own political rhetoric and spread it externally as if it were Kim's words is an immoral act."
Regarding Kim's health condition, Yoo said, "She is in an extremely weakened state, making it difficult for her to sustain a long conversation," and added, "Her eyes lack focus and she is so drained that she cannot continue speaking for an extended period."
Previously, attorney Shin, who met Kim at the Seoul Southern Detention Center, posted on his Facebook account the previous day that "Kim said, 'How could Han Donghoon do such a thing?' and 'If he had not betrayed me in that way, infinite glory would have awaited him.'"
Attorney Shin also claimed that during the meeting, Kim said things like, "Seohui Construction is conspiring with the administration to destroy us," and "Wouldn't my death be the only way to open a path for my husband?"
The special prosecutor's team summoned Kim for the third time since her detention to question her about allegations involving Geonjin Beopsa's requests, but it is reported that Kim exercised her right to remain silent. Kim was detained on August 12 on charges of violating the Political Funds Act, the Capital Markets Act, and receiving bribes under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.
