Former People Power Party lawmaker Kim Sungtae recently criticized former leader Cho Kuk, who rejoined the Cho Kuk Innovation Party after being released through a special pardon, saying, "Now is not the time to imprint yourself on the public, but a time for reflection."

On August 21, appearing on News1TV's "Fact & View," Kim said, "He takes politics too lightly. Seeing his eagerness to announce his political comeback and ambitions to the public through active social media activity, I feel he still has much to learn about politics."

He continued, "Right now, it is not urgent for him to pursue his political ambitions or to imprint his image on the public," and added, "Although he is now physically free, this is a time for self-reflection and remorse."

Kim also shared his thoughts on the possibility of Cho Kuk running in the local elections or the parliamentary by-elections. Kim said, "He has sent a message that he could run in either the metropolitan mayoral race or the parliamentary by-elections in June next year, but how would that help President Lee Jaemyung's administration? That is why even within the Democratic Party, there are voices saying that the Liberation Day special pardon was premature and hasty."

Regarding Democratic Party lawmaker Park Ji-won's mention of a possible merger between the Democratic Party and the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, Kim analyzed, "Some people see Cho as the strongest contender for the next presidential election, so would he really merge and work under Jeong Cheongrae?"
