On the 20th, Hwaseong City announced that it had signed a business agreement with the Korea Labor Welfare Research Institute and the Hwaseong City Research Institute for the "Joint Research on the Development of the Industrial Safety Index and Visualization of the Industrial Safety Status," and held a kick-off briefing at the city hall's main conference room.
According to the agreement, the three institutions will collect and analyze data related to industrial accidents to develop an industrial safety index tailored to Hwaseong. In addition, they will pilot the establishment of an industrial safety monitoring system based on a geographic information system (GIS).
The city expects that this initiative will provide quantitative safety indicators reflecting the characteristics of the local industry, and enable preventive activities and risk minimization before accidents occur.
Cho Seungmoon, the 2nd Deputy Mayor of Hwaseong City, stated, "As Hwaseong is the largest manufacturing cluster in the country, industrial safety is a core issue directly linked to the lives of our citizens. This joint research will serve as a turning point for establishing more systematic and effective industrial safety policies."
