Hwaseong City Forms Task Force to Link National Agenda with Key City Projects

Expansion of the Policy Agenda Discovery TF
Additional Projects to Be Identified and Communication with Government Strengthened
Jung Myung-geun: "We Will Enhance Tangible Results for Citizens by Advancing Projects Aligned with Policy Directions"

Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province is stepping up its efforts to align the city’s core projects with the government’s national agenda.

Hwaseong City Forms Task Force to Link National Agenda with Key City Projects

On August 21, Hwaseong City announced that it has expanded and launched the operation of a “National Agenda Response Task Force (TF)” to incorporate the city’s key projects into the detailed implementation plans of the 123 national agenda items announced by the government and to identify additional related projects.

The TF, jointly led by the first and second deputy mayors, consists of three working-level response teams composed of relevant departments and offices. The TF is responsible for identifying projects in Hwaseong City that are linked to the national agenda and for establishing and promoting strategies to secure government funding.

This TF is an expanded version of the “Policy Agenda Discovery TF” that the city established in June in response to the launch of the new administration. Through six meetings, the “Policy Agenda Discovery TF” reviewed policy agendas in ten areas-industrial economy, livelihoods, welfare, inclusive growth, public infrastructure, safety, local autonomy, culture and tourism, international trade, and climate change-and identified 39 specific projects.

Within the TF, several initiatives were identified to strengthen the city’s response to low birth rates using artificial intelligence (AI), including: establishing an AI expert advisory committee and formulating a comprehensive plan; hosting MARS 2026; and operating a children’s fast-track and Welcome Kids Zone. For climate change response, the TF proposed projects such as promoting a renewable energy center, expanding renewable energy self-sufficient villages, operating the Hwaseong Culture Pass, and managing a citizen cultural fund to revitalize culture and the arts. These projects are planned to be reflected as new or expanded initiatives for the coming year.

The city plans to actively respond by further expanding the TF to identify and promote additional core projects that can be aligned with the national agenda. In addition, the city will continuously monitor the progress of major projects linked to the national agenda to ensure tangible results, while maintaining communication with central government ministries and related organizations.

Jung Myung-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong, stated, “The expansion and operation of this TF is a strategic measure to gain momentum for our key projects by linking them to the national agenda,” adding, “Through the discovery of projects aligned with the government’s policy direction, we will ensure that citizens can experience real, tangible results.”
