Standards Set for Community Facilities
Immediate Access to Senior Centers and Fitness Facilities Upon Move-In
From now on, newly constructed apartment complexes in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province will be required to equip community facilities with necessary furnishings and equipment before completion. As a result, residents will be able to use these facilities immediately upon moving in, without any interruption.
On August 21, the Yongin city government announced that it will implement new standards for the installation of community facilities within apartment complexes.
Under these new standards, construction and development companies will be required to provide essential furnishings and equipment for community facilities as a condition for apartment complex project approval. The city will also check whether these requirements have been met during the final inspection process.
This measure aims to prevent situations where, at the beginning of occupancy, construction companies secure only the space for community facilities but fail to provide the necessary furnishings and equipment, resulting in residents being unable to use the facilities for a considerable period after moving in.
Facilities that must be equipped before completion include senior centers, small libraries, and fitness centers. For senior centers, cooking utensils for meal preparation and furniture for recreation and hobbies must be installed. Small libraries are required to have bookshelves, at least 2,000 new books, desks, and chairs. Fitness centers and other exercise facilities must be equipped with exercise equipment and lockers.
The city has also decided to recommend the provision of furnishings and furniture for apartment complexes that have already received project approval and are currently under construction.
Lee Sangil, Mayor of Yongin, stated, "With the introduction of these new standards, residents will be able to use community facilities as soon as they move in, which will improve convenience in daily life. We expect that these new standards will increase satisfaction among residents living in apartment complexes."
