From Errand Runner Service to Happiness Taxi and Integrated Care...
Expanding Tangible Benefits for Residents
Cheongyang County in South Chungcheong Province is drawing significant attention as its convenience-focused policies are bringing tangible changes to residents' daily lives.
Governor Kim Donggon has emphasized “experiential, customized administration” that goes beyond simple administrative support by directly connecting government services to where residents need them most. He has rapidly pushed forward practical, resident-centered policies that are transforming daily life in the county.
According to the county on August 21, Cheongyang was the first in the nation to launch the “Resident Errand Runner: Call and We’ll Come” service. With just a phone call, residents can access daily services such as cleaning, repairs, and delivery of essentials. While there were only 107 requests during the three-month pilot phase, the number soared to 1,394 in just one year after its official implementation-a more than 13-fold increase.
This project also involves 17 social economy enterprises and small business owners, simultaneously boosting the local economy and creating jobs.
The county has also expanded its “Happiness Taxi” service for residents in transportation-vulnerable areas, alleviating inconvenience for seniors and rural residents and achieving balanced transportation welfare down to the township level.
Additionally, the integrated care system is being strengthened so that seniors, people with disabilities, and those in care blind spots can receive medical and nursing services directly at their place of residence.
Furthermore, during the extreme heavy rain damage in July, the county demonstrated exemplary disaster response by securing 32.1 billion KRW in national funds and taking proactive emergency restoration measures.
In particular, the combination of offline support for seniors with low digital accessibility and mobile administrative services targeting younger generations shows that the county’s administration is evolving into a structure that embraces all generations. This is why Governor Kim’s administrative goal of “universal convenience services for everyone” is being recognized as a reality.
Governor Kim stated, “The value of administration rises when residents can directly experience convenience in their daily lives. From the Errand Runner service to transportation, care, and medical support, we will continue to make Cheongyang a better place to live through resident-centered policies that cover all aspects of daily life.”
