On August 20, Wando County in South Jeolla Province announced that it is implementing the '2025 Energy Voucher Project' to reduce the burden of cooling and heating costs for vulnerable groups.

The Energy Voucher Project is a program that provides financial support for essential energy costs required for cooling and heating, including electricity, gas, district heating, kerosene, LPG, and coal briquettes. The vouchers can be used to offset summer electricity bills and purchase heating fuel during the winter season.

The program is available to households that meet both income and household member criteria. Eligible recipients include basic livelihood security beneficiaries such as seniors (born on or before December 31, 1960), infants and young children (born on or after January 1, 2018), people with disabilities, pregnant women, patients with severe diseases, patients with rare and intractable diseases, and single-parent families.

The amount of support varies depending on the number of household members: 295,200 won for single-person households, 407,500 won for two-person households, 532,700 won for three-person households, and 701,300 won for households with four or more members. Applications can be submitted until December 31 at the local township office corresponding to the applicant's address or through the Bokjiro website. The voucher can be used until May 25, 2026. Further details can be found on the Energy Voucher website.

An official from the county stated, "We are actively promoting the program in cooperation with township offices to ensure that all eligible recipients receive the benefits," adding, "In particular, we plan to encourage usage among households that did not use the voucher last year by sending informational materials and providing phone consultations."
