A fire broke out on the 10th floor of an apartment building in Mok-dong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, and was extinguished in about 40 minutes.
According to fire authorities, at around 11:40 a.m. on August 20, they received a report of smoke coming from an outdoor unit and began firefighting operations.
The fire department mobilized 48 vehicles and 176 personnel, bringing the blaze under control by 12:27 p.m. and fully extinguishing it by 1:07 p.m.
Due to the fire, 29 apartment residents evacuated. Seventeen people suffered minor injuries such as smoke inhalation, and one person was transported to the hospital.
The fire authorities plan to investigate the specific cause of the fire.
