Recognized as an Outstanding Institution in Public Data Openness and Utilization
Siheung City Receives Minister’s Commendation in the 2025 Digital Government Innovation Assessment
The city of Siheung in Gyeonggi Province announced on August 20 that it was selected as an outstanding institution in the field of public data openness and utilization in the '2025 Digital Government Innovation Assessment' and received a commendation from the Minister of the Interior and Safety.
This award is based on the results of a data-driven administration evaluation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, targeting 679 organizations, including central administrative agencies, local governments, and public institutions. The evaluation was carried out based on 10 detailed indicators across three categories: analysis and utilization, sharing, and management system.
The city explained that the award was the result of its ongoing efforts to innovate data-driven administration in various areas, including obtaining certification as a 'leading institution for data talent development,' training data analysis professionals, expanding joint data utilization, and supporting policy decision-making through data analysis. To promote the use of public data, the city has focused on analyzing and improving public datasets with low private sector utilization, as well as enhancing the level of openness and quality management.
In particular, Siheung has applied big data techniques to various policies, such as conducting preliminary site analysis during the establishment of the Ainuri Care Center and communicating with the local community based on analysis of single-person household characteristics. The city also received high marks for its policies that improve citizen convenience by providing the latest information through various public data sources.
With this award, Siheung has been recognized as an outstanding institution for four consecutive years in the related administrative evaluation, and for two consecutive years in the assessment of public data provision and operation.
Lee Deokhwan, Director of Planning and Coordination for Siheung City, stated, "We will continue to pursue data-driven administration that citizens can truly experience, taking this award as an opportunity."
