Stable Operations Expected Through Domestic Production
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on August 20 that it has successfully conducted a test run of a domestically developed communication device for automatic train operation on the Yongin EverLine light rail transit.

This product is an "optical-electrical conversion ground transceiver for automatic train operation." It is a core device that links the train and ground control equipment to exchange essential information such as current speed, speed limits, and movement authorization for automatic train operation.
Until now, the product had relied on imports from overseas, but the need for domestic production arose due to the discontinuation of imported models and a shortage of spare parts.
Accordingly, full-scale development began in 2023 after the product was selected for a small and medium-sized enterprise support project by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the National Research Council of Science & Technology. The Korea Railroad Research Institute led the project, with participation from Humedia Co., Yongin Light Rail Transit Co., and Yongin EverLine Operation Co.
The city explained that the newly developed device is fully compatible with existing equipment and has been evaluated as delivering superior performance. Yongin City added that the signal-to-noise ratio has been improved, enhancing signal quality, and that enhanced heat dissipation and moisture-proofing have increased maintainability.
Lee Sangil, Mayor of Yongin, stated, "Through the localization of this equipment, we have established a stable operational foundation for the Yongin EverLine," and added, "We will continue our efforts to make the Yongin EverLine a safer and more convenient means of transportation."
