Jung-gu Walnut Pastry Workshop and Seo-gu Kkumshimdang
Begin Full-Scale Operations
Daejeon, which has risen to the top as the number one dessert travel destination, will now offer "Kkumdori Walnut Pastry" for regular sale.
The popular "Kkumdori Walnut Pastry," which previously drew long lines at the "Daejeon 0 o'clock Festival," will be available at two youth self-support business group stores in Jung-gu and Seo-gu, Daejeon.
During the recent festival, a total of approximately 9,400 boxes of Kkumdori Walnut Pastry were sold, with daily sales exceeding 1,000 boxes. Long lines formed every day at the venue, and the product often sold out early. Even after the festival ended, inquiries continued on social media and online communities, with people asking, "Is there a place to buy it?" and "I want to purchase more."
In response to this enthusiastic public reaction, Daejeon City began sales at the Jung-gu Walnut Pastry Workshop (3 Daejong-ro 286beon-gil, Jung-gu, Munchang-dong), operated by the youth self-support business group, starting on the 18th. The product will also be officially launched at Kkumshimdang in Seo-gu (241 Dunsan-ro, Seo-gu) beginning on the 25th.
The existing "10-piece set (8 chocolate, 2 original)" is priced at 7,000 won, while the newly released chocolate 10-piece signature set is available for 12,000 won. The 4-piece gift set (2 chocolate, 2 original) is sold for 3,500 won. The product lineup has been diversified to reflect the preferences of younger customers who favor chocolate and the demand for gifts.
With the launch of regular sales, the city plans to gradually expand sales locations so that all citizens can easily find Kkumdori Walnut Pastry nearby.
Lee Jangwoo, Mayor of Daejeon, stated, "Kkumdori Walnut Pastry is more than just a dessert; it is a meaningful initiative that helps young people build independence through self-support jobs. We will actively support its growth as Daejeon's signature dessert, embodying both the spirit of youth and the city's unique identity."
