Mobile Mayor's Office Addresses Key Issues for Safer Boarding and Alighting Environment
Paju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on August 20 that it had completed the expansion of the access road to Dayul Elementary and Middle School in the Haeeoreum Village of Unjeong 3 District on August 14.

This project was initiated after residents and parents near Dayul Elementary School directly requested "the creation of a safe boarding and alighting area on the narrow one-lane access road to the school" during a mobile mayor's office event held at the end of last year, where Paju Mayor Kim Kyoungil met with local residents.
The existing one-lane access road was too narrow and posed a significant threat to student safety due to traffic congestion during school commute times, illegal crossing of the center line, and illegal parking and stopping.
In response, Paju City worked closely with Korea Land and Housing Corporation and the Paju Office of Education to relocate various obstacles within the existing road section, where securing space was difficult. The city also obtained permission to use part of the school site to construct a sidewalk.
Full-scale construction began in May this year. By avoiding the period of heavy rainfall and completing the work swiftly during the summer vacation, students will now be able to board and alight within a safe children's commuting zone with their parents starting from the second semester.
Mayor Kim Kyoungil stated, "This is an exemplary case where civil complaints collected through direct communication with residents at the mobile mayor's office led to policy implementation and on-site improvements. We will continue to prioritize residents' opinions and devote greater efforts to student safety and the creation of a pleasant urban environment."
