The signing ceremony, held the previous day at MBC's headquarters in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, was attended by Yeonsu Lee, CEO of NC AI, Hyungjun Ahn, CEO of MBC, and other key officials from both companies.
NC AI expects that by leveraging media AI technology, it will be able to enhance both the efficiency and creativity of content production. Examples include real-time multilingual AI dubbing, AI translation that incorporates cultural and contextual understanding, and multimodal AI capable of generating 3D animation and sound effects from text input alone.
With this MOU, the two companies have expressed their ambition to usher in the era of K-AI, where technology and content converge. They plan to integrate AI throughout the entire process, from production stages such as AI-based translation, dubbing, video synthesis, and automated editing, to real-time interaction with viewers.
Yeonsu Lee, CEO of NC AI, stated, "This collaboration marks an important first step in fully applying NC AI's proprietary AI foundation model and advanced media AI technology to the field operations of MBC, Korea's leading broadcaster. Our partnership with MBC will serve as a model case demonstrating the potential for AX adoption across various industries, and will contribute to strengthening the global competitiveness of K-AI and realizing AI innovation that the public can truly experience."
Hyungjun Ahn, CEO of MBC, commented, "We view this collaboration not simply as an improvement of certain work processes through AI, but as a fundamental paradigm shift toward becoming a media and content company centered on AI. Going forward, we will accelerate the AI transformation of the media and content industry based on proprietary AI foundation models, enhance our global competitiveness, and keep pace with the K-AI era."
Meanwhile, NC AI has been selected as the lead company for the 'Proprietary AI Foundation Model Project' organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT. The project's goal is to develop a Korean large language model (LLM) and multimodal cognitive generative AI to drive AI transformation across various industries. In this process, NC AI is leading a consortium that includes 54 companies and research institutes, including MBC.
