Kim Dongyeon Holds Major Executive Meeting on the 19th: "Now Is the Golden Time to Reflect Gyeonggi Province's Agenda in National Policy"

Gyeonggi Province Governor Dongyeon Kim, in relation to the announcement of the new government's national policy agenda, emphasized to Gyeonggi Province executives that "now is the golden time to reflect Gyeonggi Province's policies and demands in the national agenda," urging them to respond proactively.

On the 19th, Governor Kim held the Gyeonggi Province Major Issues Executive Meeting and said, "Although the national policy agenda was announced last week, it will take considerable time for each ministry to establish specific business plans. The President also mentioned that, as public opinion and feedback from various sectors are collected through multiple channels, revisions can be made at any time." He made these remarks during the meeting.

This meeting was organized to share the direction for promoting the national policy agenda and regional pledges following the announcement of the new government's five-year plan on the 13th, and to discuss future response measures such as the operation of a dedicated task force (TF).

Before the meeting, Governor Kim stated, "The new government announced its direction and 123 tasks at the national policy meeting, and I convened this meeting so that Gyeonggi Province can take a leading role in ensuring the new government's success. Gyeonggi Province is in a position to accelerate efficient initiatives at a faster pace than any other local government, or even the central government, so I hope today will be another opportunity to reaffirm our commitment."

He continued, "The new government’s national policy agenda is both an opportunity and a source of strength for Gyeonggi Province. Let’s take the lead so that 14.2 million residents can enjoy a better life, and let that progress extend to improving the lives of all our citizens."

Gyeonggi Province plans to closely monitor the trends of current projects linked to the 123 national policy tasks and the strategic tasks of each department, and respond accordingly. In addition, for regional pledges, the province will proactively prepare detailed action plans for each task to create synergy with the central government.

The 'National Policy Agenda Response Strategy Task Force (TF)', launched on the 14th, will be operated biweekly under the leadership of the Vice Governor for Economic Affairs. Through this, the province will analyze the details of the 123 national policy tasks, identify related projects in Gyeonggi Province, and actively respond by proposing detailed implementation strategies, securing national funding, and suggesting legislative amendments to the National Assembly and central ministries.

Previously, Gyeonggi Province submitted to the National Policy Planning Committee the following regional agenda items: ▲ Three major future growth projects (establishment of a K-Semiconductor Mega Cluster, creation of a Climate Tech Cluster and transition to RE100, support for private sector attraction of AI computing centers and designation of AI leading business special zones); ▲ Five major citizen experience policies (Aging in Place program, Care SOS project, pilot implementation of a 4.5-day workweek, support for overseas training and domestic/international employment, climate insurance and climate action points); ▲ Three major regional development and balanced growth tasks (railroad undergrounding and expansion of metropolitan railways in the capital region, creation of bio and venture clusters, special compensation for special sacrifices in the northern region's grand development).
