Public Tours Suspended Since the 1st
Blue House Prepares for Presidential Office Return
Chief Presidential Secretary Kang Hoonshik announced that the relocation of the Blue House will be completed within this year.
On August 19, at a press briefing held at the Yongsan Presidential Office, Kang responded to a question regarding the relocation plan of the Blue House by saying, "Although we have not set a specific date or time yet, it will be done within this year."
Previously, the Blue House was fully opened to the public in May 2022 after former President Yoon Suk-yeol moved his office to Yongsan. However, with the new administration announcing a return to the Blue House, public tours have been suspended since the 1st of this month. This comes after approximately three years and two months of public access.
The Blue House has begun security and safety inspections in preparation for the return of the presidential office and is reportedly planning to begin renovation work soon.
