The Grand Prize at the 17th Daejeon Metropolitan City Public Design Competition was awarded in the Facility Design category to Lim Jonggeon from Cheongju University for his entry, "Hanbat Arboretum Bicycle Repair Stand Gochishu."

On August 19, Daejeon City held the awards ceremony for the 17th Daejeon Metropolitan City Public Design Competition in the lobby on the second floor of City Hall. The event was attended by approximately 60 people, including Mayor Lee Jangwoo of Daejeon, Jeong Myeongguk, Chair of the City Council's Administrative and Autonomy Committee, Kang Inho, Chief Architect, Song Younggyu, Head Judge, and the award recipients.

This year's competition was held under the theme "Healing Design in Daejeon at a Single Step." A total of 206 teams of university students and the general public participated, submitting 206 works. Of these, 60 works were honored with awards after a comprehensive evaluation of creativity, practicality, and overall quality.

The Gold Prize went to ▲Kim Sihan of Seoul National University and Heo Taewon of Kyushu University for "Beyond the Yard, the Breath of Soje," and ▲Ryu Gahyun and Lee Serin of Konkuk University Glocal Campus for "Daejeon Metropolitan City Walking Application Geotsyu."

The judging panel consisted of eight experts in architecture, design, and urban planning, who comprehensively reviewed the creativity and practicality of the works.

Mayor Lee Jangwoo stated, "I believe these award-winning works will serve as a foundation for making Daejeon a 'city healed by design' and a 'prestigious, high-quality city.' I hope this competition becomes a stepping stone for participants to grow creatively and an opportunity for citizens to experience the inspiration that design brings."

The award-winning works will be on display in the lobby on the second floor of Daejeon City Hall for nine days, from August 19 to August 27. They can also be viewed on the Daejeon Metropolitan City Public Design Competition website.
