[Market Focus] Pan Entertainment Surges on Signs of China Easing Content Ban, Boosting Overseas Drama Broadcasts

[Market Focus] Pan Entertainment Surges on Signs of China Easing Content Ban, Boosting Overseas Drama Broadcasts

Pan Entertainment is showing strong performance. This is believed to be influenced by news that China has decided to further open its doors to outstanding overseas program content, including dramas.

As of 1:28 p.m. on the 19th, Pan Entertainment was trading at 2,480 won, up 16.75% from the previous day.

According to local Chinese media, the National Radio and Television Administration of China, which oversees broadcasting and internet, recently announced measures to "further enrich TV large-screen content and promote the supply of radio, TV, and video content." As part of this, the administration stated it would promote the introduction and broadcast of high-quality overseas programs.

The announcement also included a provision to strengthen program copyright protection through improvements in relevant laws and regulations. The authorities further added that they would encourage and support the entry of high-quality short-form dramas into TV. In China, the market for short-form dramas, which typically run about two minutes per episode and offer high immersion, is growing explosively.

Recently, even as Korean cultural content has been blocked in China, Korean dramas such as "Squid Game," "The Glory," and "Thank You for Your Hard Work" have been enjoying underground popularity. There has also been controversy as Chinese viewers have been illegally "pirate watching" these so-called "K-dramas," which are not officially imported.

Meanwhile, Pan Entertainment is the production company behind the drama "Thank You for Your Hard Work."
