As high inflation persists, interest in products available at reasonable prices is increasing. Gwangju Shinsegae Co., Ltd. is introducing items that help ease the burden for customers during this era of high prices, such as 10K jewelry products that lower the gold content to make them more affordable.
Jewelry made with gold is typically categorized by its gold content, with 24K representing pure gold, and 18K and 14K being the common standards. Recently, as gold prices have risen, 10K necklaces, rings, and earrings with reduced gold content have been gaining attention.
'Lloyd,' located on the 3rd floor of the Gwangju Shinsegae main building, is receiving positive feedback from university students and young professionals by offering 10K and 5K products with lower gold content. In fact, sales of Lloyd's light gold product line (5K, 9K, 10K) and silver product line in the first half of this year increased by more than 20% compared to the first half of last year.
At Gwangju Shinsegae Lloyd, the popular 10K couple rings are priced at 398,000 won. Considering that 14K products with similar design and quality are priced around 750,000 won, customers can purchase them at about half the price. Thanks to this reasonable pricing, the 10K couple rings at Gwangju Shinsegae Lloyd have become bestsellers in just one month since their launch. The Lloyd 10K necklace with a diamond is also very popular as a gift, as it is sold for only 190,000 won.
Products for consumers who prefer home-cooked meals due to the burden of dining out prices are also gaining popularity. In the food section on the basement 1st floor of the Gwangju Shinsegae main building, a set of three types of Gomtang is being sold for 18,700 won. The set includes Korean beef Seolleongtang (450g), Korean beef Naju-style Gomtang (450g), and boneless Galbitang (450g).
The Korean beef Seolleongtang is generously packed with large pieces of Korean beef in a rich beef bone broth, making one pack enough for two people to have a hearty meal. It can be easily prepared by microwaving for about 4 minutes or heating in boiling water for 6 minutes, allowing anyone to enjoy Seolleongtang conveniently.
Fruits such as watermelon, which have seen price hikes due to the heatwave, are also being sold in smaller portions to reduce the price burden and add convenience. House watermelon, sold for 40,800 won, can be enjoyed more conveniently as a quarter-sized piece for 12,800 won. For customers seeking even smaller portions, such as single-person households, a pack of sliced watermelon is available for 5,980 won.
Shim Hansung, head of the accessories team at Gwangju Shinsegae, stated, "To help ease customers' burdens during this era of high prices, we recommend reasonably priced products such as 10K jewelry," adding, "Gwangju Shinsegae will continue to discover and introduce a wide variety of items that meet customer demand."
