Accessible for Digitally Vulnerable Groups:
Service Available via a Single Call Without the App
Promotional Stickers at Bus Stops and 1,000 Leaflets Distributed
Significantly Enhanced Convenience for Passengers
Hanam City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Hyunjae) announced on August 19 that starting from August 20, it will launch a phone call service for the demand-responsive bus (DRT) 'Ddokbeoseu', which operates in the Gam-il and Wirye areas.
This measure was introduced to enhance transportation convenience for digitally vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, who have difficulty using the smartphone app ('Ddokta').
Currently, a total of nine Ddokbeoseu buses operate in the Gam-il and Wirye areas, carrying an average of about 640 passengers per day. However, since the service could only be accessed through the app, there were limitations in its use.
To use the newly introduced phone service, passengers can call the Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation call center and request a ride according to the operator's instructions. Once the reservation is confirmed, the boarding location can be checked via a KakaoTalk notification.
A city official stated, "With the introduction of the phone call service, more citizens will be able to conveniently use Ddokbeoseu," adding, "To promote this, we have placed promotional stickers at bus stops in the Gam-il and Wirye areas and distributed about 1,000 informational leaflets to administrative welfare centers, apartment complexes, and senior centers."
Meanwhile, Ddokbeoseu is a new type of public transportation that operates by generating the optimal route in real time according to passenger requests, without a fixed route.
