According to Gapyeong County on August 19, the county began a service contract for the bus route system reorganization on July 25. On August 18, a kickoff meeting was held to officially start the initiative. The event was attended by Deputy Governor Kim Miseong, members of the Gapyeong County Council, heads of the six towns and townships, the CEO of Gapyeong Transportation Co., Ltd., and others, who discussed directions for improving a resident-centered transportation environment.

This service contract will be carried out over eight months until March 2026. After a pilot operation in the second half of the year, the fully reorganized routes are scheduled to be implemented starting in 2027. The scope of the project includes a comprehensive review of city bus routes throughout Gapyeong, consideration of introducing demand-responsive transportation (DRT), and an analysis of management efficiency for transportation companies. In particular, the county plans to focus on actively reflecting the opinions of residents, who are the actual users of public transportation.

Deputy Governor Kim Miseong stated, "Please make sure to incorporate as many of the inconveniences and improvement suggestions directly experienced by residents as possible through future public briefings," adding, "I hope this project will be completed swiftly so that the transportation inconveniences of our residents can be effectively resolved."

A county official said, "The final reorganization plan will fully incorporate residents' feedback and, after a pilot operation in the second half of 2026, will be officially implemented from 2027." The official added, "This reorganization is significant because it goes beyond simply adjusting routes and focuses on establishing a customized transportation service centered on actual users."
