'Virus Infection and Partial Differential Equations,' translated by Professor Kim Kwangsu (Department of Scientific Computing) at Pukyong National University and others, has been selected as an Excellent Academic Book by the National Academy of Sciences, Republic of Korea, for 2025.
This book was chosen in the field of natural sciences among the 279 excellent academic books selected this year by the National Academy of Sciences.
The original work, authored by Professor Shingo Iwami of Nagoya University in Japan, was jointly translated by Professor Kim Kwangsu of Pukyong National University, Professor Park Hyungki of Nagoya University, and Dr. Jung Yongdam.

'Virus Infection and Partial Differential Equations' systematically explains methods for interpreting virus infection experimental data through mathematical models.
Based on calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations, the book details the process of analyzing experimental data to derive new scientific facts. It has been recognized as an academic book with both depth and practical value, offering hands-on analysis using real data as well as historical and research background explanations from virus experts.
Professor Kim Kwangsu stated, "It is meaningful to be able to introduce interdisciplinary research between mathematics and biology in Korea. I hope this book will help lower barriers between disciplines and serve as a catalyst for more active collaborative research in Korea."
