Pyeongtaek City to Begin Operation of Paengseong 2 Reservoir in September

Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 19th that it will begin operating the 'Paengseong 2 Reservoir,' which was built to provide clean and stable tap water, starting next month.

The city invested 58.3 billion KRW in the construction of the reservoir, establishing a facility with a daily capacity of 12,000 cubic meters, new transmission and distribution pipelines with diameters of 700 to 800 millimeters, and a total length of 21 kilometers.

The city explained that the operation of this new reservoir will resolve the ongoing low water pressure issues in the Paengseong-eup area and enable a stable supply of tap water. Previously, tap water in Paengseong-eup was supplied from the Vision 2 Reservoir through a single pipeline, which meant that the entire area was at risk of water outages in the event of a leak. However, with the operation of the new reservoir, the city stated that a more stable water supply is now possible.

The newly built reservoir features a smart water network management system and real-time water level and quality monitoring sensors, allowing for demand forecasting and automatic control based on water usage patterns. This is expected to enable quick and efficient responses to emergencies such as water outages or sudden increases in water usage.

In particular, the upper space of the reservoir will be developed as a sports and rest area for citizens.

An official from the Pyeongtaek City Waterworks and Sewerage Office stated, "We will continue to do our best to provide safe and clean tap water so that citizens can drink with confidence."
