The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency's Criminal Investigation Unit and the Changwon Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor are conducting a search and seizure operation starting at 9 a.m. on August 19 at both the highway construction site office in Uiryeong County and the POSCO E&C headquarters in Songdo, Incheon.
The police and the Ministry of Employment and Labor have deployed around 50 personnel to investigate the cause of the fatal accident that occurred on July 28, when a worker in his 60s was killed after being caught in a drilling machine during slope reinforcement work at the Hamyang-Ulsan Expressway Uiryeong Interchange (IC) construction site.
Regarding this incident, the police are investigating on suspicion of occupational negligence resulting in death, while the Ministry of Employment and Labor is conducting an investigation for violations of the Industrial Safety and Health Act and the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
