Aiming for the Global Music Market
CJ ENM and Hakuhodo Launch Joint Venture "Chapter-I"
Expanding Integrated Music Business and Artist Development
On August 19, CJ ENM announced that it has established a joint venture called "Chapter-I" with the Japanese advertising agency Hakuhodo.
Regarding this partnership, CJ ENM explained, "This collaboration aims to create new business opportunities in the global music market," adding, "Chapter-I signifies the first chapter where an individual's ('I') dreams begin."
CJ ENM has been expanding its global partnerships centered around its music-based IP (intellectual property) ecosystem system, the Music Creative eco-System (MCS). Hakuhodo has a track record of successfully executing various projects both in Japan and overseas, leveraging its expertise in content branding and data-driven planning.
Through this joint venture, the two companies plan to pursue an integrated music business encompassing content planning and development, digital marketing, artist development, music production, concerts, and merchandising. By combining CJ ENM's production capabilities with Hakuhodo's marketing expertise, they aim to strengthen their competitiveness in the global market.
The first project will be the Korea-Japan joint survival program "Unpretty Rapstar: HIP POP Princess," scheduled to air on Mnet in October. The production teams behind "Unpretty Rapstar" and "Street Woman Fighter" will participate, and Hakuhodo's strategic input will be added, with the goal of discovering global artists.
CJ ENM and Hakuhodo stated, "We aim to create new growth opportunities in the global music IP business, going beyond simply producing programs or nurturing artists."
