Large-Scale Launch of 25 New Products at IFA
Designs Tailored to European Customer Preferences and Living Environments
Industry-Leading Energy Efficiency and Customized Aesthetics
LG Electronics is launching 25 new refrigerator and washing machine models specifically targeting the European market. To strengthen its competitiveness in Europe, the company has focused on enhancing energy efficiency and introducing customized designs tailored to local living environments. This move is seen as a reflection of LG's intent to use Europe as a breakthrough market, especially given the current instability in the global trade environment.
On August 19, LG Electronics announced that it will unveil 25 new refrigerator and washing machine models at IFA 2025, Europe's largest home appliance exhibition, which opens on September 5 in Berlin, Germany. In consideration of Europe's emphasis on energy efficiency, the new products have significantly improved energy performance. In addition to redesigning the internal structure, LG has further strengthened its "AI Core Tech," which combines artificial intelligence (AI) with the company's core component technologies such as motors and compressors.

For refrigerators, insulation has been enhanced and compressor operation optimized based on usage patterns to reduce power consumption. Major new products such as the bottom freezer (refrigerator with refrigerator compartment on top and freezer at the bottom) and French door (double-door refrigerator compartment on top and drawer-type freezer at the bottom) models have achieved industry-leading efficiency by significantly increasing energy performance compared to last year.
In the washing machine segment, LG has strengthened its lineup of high-efficiency washer-dryer combos in response to demand for integrated appliances that maximize space utilization. Having secured the number one spot in the market in 2021 with the "LG Signature Heat Pump Wash Combo," the first in Europe to receive an A rating for energy efficiency, the company now aims to solidify its leadership with these new high-efficiency models.

LG Electronics has reflected local customer preferences and living environments in both the design and fundamental internal structure of its products. Changes in internal structure were made based on local home visits and AI-based data analysis.
One notable feature is the "zero clearance" hinge, which allows refrigerator doors to rotate inward, accommodating Europe's typically narrow home layouts. This enables doors to be opened and closed even when the appliance is placed flush against a wall or cabinet. The French door refrigerator has been made approximately 80mm taller to increase capacity, taking into account the average height of European consumers. Inside, the refrigerator compartment features a two-tier drawer system to suit usage patterns involving various fresh ingredients, and the width of the door basket has been reduced to prevent sauce bottles from tipping over.
The washing machines and dryers reflect the fact that European customers use a wider variety of cycles compared to other regions. LG has expanded its lineup of models with LCD control panels, offering greater flexibility in user interface (UI) customization compared to dial-knob models. Furthermore, considering the local trend of installing laundry appliances in various spaces such as kitchens, bathrooms, and dressing rooms, LG has adopted a built-in style design to enable a more cohesive interior aesthetic.

In addition, LG Electronics plans to introduce customized app services and accessories for European customers, including those for people with disabilities and seniors, to further enhance the user experience. Recognizing that many European customers install their own appliances, LG will offer a "self-check" mode for washing machines via the ThinQ app, allowing users to directly inspect functions such as the drum motor and water supply/drainage without expert assistance. The company also plans to launch the "LG Comfort Kit" exclusively for the European market, featuring items like the Easy Handle to help users with limited accessibility operate appliances more easily.
Park Heeuk, Executive Vice President and Head of Home Solutions Product Planning at LG Electronics, emphasized, "By introducing new products optimized for the European home appliance market and customer lifestyle, LG will deliver a new customer experience and further strengthen its market leadership."
Meanwhile, according to global market research firm Statista, the European home appliance market is expected to reach approximately 150 trillion won this year, making it, along with North America, one of the largest premium markets. Annual growth of around 4.1% is projected through 2030.
