'Best K-Brand' Event Runs Until the 24th
Over 1,000 Products Including K-Beauty, K-Food, and K-Fashion
Regular Special Events to Expand Sales Channels for SMEs
On August 19, Coupang announced that it will be holding a "Best K-Brand" special event in Taiwan to expand export opportunities for Korean small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The event aims to help small business owners, who have faced challenges in expanding exports due to economic downturns, sluggish domestic demand, and trade barriers, by providing new sales channels locally. It also seeks to raise brand awareness among Taiwanese customers by showcasing high-quality SME products from Korea.
The event will run for six days, from August 19 to 24, through the Coupang Taiwan app. More than 1,000 SME brand products, including those from small business owners with annual sales of less than 3 billion KRW, will be featured. The event will introduce a wide range of products, focusing on categories popular with Taiwanese consumers such as K-beauty, K-food, household goods, baby products, and fashion.
Coupang will prominently display the K-SME special event on the main page of the Coupang Taiwan app and strengthen product promotion through banner advertisements. Since the launch of the WOW Membership in Taiwan earlier this year, local customers can purchase K-brand products with free Rocket Delivery benefits.
The participating companies are those whose product quality has already been proven on Coupang Korea. These include The Gukmin, a SME specializing in seasoned seaweed, offering Doljaban Bokkeum and Gwangcheon traditional seaweed; as well as popular brands in kitchenware, household goods, and bedding such as Kitchen Factory, Lamonte, and Erato.
In the K-beauty sector, brands such as Maybrown, known for its natural tone-up effect; Ibit, a hypoallergenic care brand for sensitive skin; and Glossy Blossom, which helps create vibrant makeup looks, are participating. The event also features Attiblanc, a baby bedding brand; Bareunmade, which sells health foods such as red ginseng, pear bellflower, and apple juice; and fashion SMEs like Elso and Goodif, as well as sunglasses and bag brands Ricclow and Rietti.
Large-scale special events like this can support SMEs in expanding their overseas sales channels. Coupang directly purchases products from Korean SMEs and provides Rocket Delivery service in Taiwan. By offering comprehensive "one-stop" support for customs clearance, marketing, logistics, and Rocket Delivery, Coupang is lowering the barriers for Korean SMEs to enter the Taiwanese market and expanding their export opportunities. Since Coupang launched its Rocket Direct Purchase and Rocket Delivery services in Taiwan in the second half of 2022, around 12,000 SMEs have successfully exported their products through Coupang. In particular, for small business owners with annual sales of less than 3 billion KRW, who have found it difficult to develop export channels on their own, there are high expectations for overseas expansion through Coupang in the future.
At the end of last year, Coupang supported 20 SMEs in entering the Taiwanese market through the "Joint Entry Support Project" in collaboration with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership. As a "specialized trading company" designated by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Coupang is also expanding its cooperation to help export beginners among SMEs enter overseas markets.
Starting with this special event, Coupang plans to regularly hold similar events in Taiwan to support the sales growth of Korean SMEs. A Coupang representative stated, "We will do everything possible to help outstanding Korean SMEs enter the global market without the burden of additional local investment," and added, "Through regular K-brand special events, we will support Korea's 'hidden champions' in spreading their wings overseas."
