Lotte Mart Launches Directly Shipped "Fresh West Coast Blue Crabs" at 992 Won per 100g

On August 19, Lotte Mart announced that it will introduce this year’s first catch of "fresh blue crabs from the West Coast (100g, refrigerated, domestic)" starting August 21.

To protect the spawning season, a fishing ban on blue crabs is enforced every year from June 21 to August 20. The products being sold this time are blue crabs caught off the West Coast in the early morning on the very day the ban is lifted.

Until August 27, fresh blue crabs from the West Coast will be sold at 992 won. This price reflects a 20% discount when paying with the event card. The promotion was planned to mark the start of the seasonal blue crab harvest, allowing consumers to enjoy this seasonal delicacy at a reasonable price.

Lotte Mart has taken thorough measures to maintain freshness. The freshly caught blue crabs are shipped directly from the production site and supplied live in the afternoon of the same day. Immediately after being caught, the crabs are stunned in cold water below 5°C and kept in an environment similar to sandy flats before being shipped directly to stores nationwide. Through a systematic distribution infrastructure connecting production sites and stores, customers can experience the highest level of ultra-freshness at all Lotte Mart locations.

The supply volume has also been prepared at a record high. Lotte Mart signed advance contracts with about 40 fishing vessels based at Buan Gyeokpo Port and Taean Sinjindo Port, the main production areas for blue crabs, establishing a supply network approximately 30% larger than last year. In addition, by collaborating with eight specialized packing facilities responsible for sorting and packaging, Lotte Mart plans to ensure a stable supply throughout the season.
