KBS Opens Door to AI-Driven Content Production: "Broadcast Only After Human Verification"

Stricter Standards for Journalism
Final Approval Required for AI-Generated Content
Clear Disclosure to Viewers on AI Usage

On August 18, KBS announced that it has established an 'AI Guideline' outlining the use of artificial intelligence (AI) as an auxiliary tool in content production. According to the guideline, while AI can be utilized as a useful means to enhance production efficiency, any output generated by AI must be supervised and approved by humans through multiple layers of oversight.

Accordingly, any content or public service utilizing AI can only be officially used after final confirmation by a responsible party. In the field of journalism, such as news and current affairs programs, stricter standards apply compared to entertainment or drama. For example, results produced using AI in reporting and article writing cannot be used as they are without verification.

KBS also requires that when AI is used in broadcast production, viewers must be clearly informed of this fact. If necessary, the source must also be indicated. AI-generated content that infringes on the rights and interests of others will be promptly deleted or corrected.

The guideline has been distributed to all KBS employees and will be applied throughout production and practical operations.
