Jin Sunghwan, Senior Secretary for National Unity, stated during a briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office that "the two officers will begin work tomorrow in the Office of the Secretary for National Unity within the Presidential Office," and explained, "They will be responsible for tasks such as establishing youth policies, improving systems, reviewing policies by each ministry, and strengthening communication with young people."

Previously, the Office of the President conducted an open recruitment for the youth officer positions through a blind hiring process. Senior Secretary Jin explained that the two selected officers were chosen by a citizen participation panel from among the applicants.

He added, "Both officers have consistently worked in youth departments and youth centers within Seoul," and noted, "In particular, Officer Choi has worked as a social worker for eight years, serving vulnerable groups." He also mentioned that both officers were evaluated as having demonstrated the most outstanding capabilities during the selection process.

Regarding concerns that the youth officers might lack influence because they have been appointed at grade 5, whereas under the Moon Jae-in administration the position was at grade 2, Senior Secretary Jin stated, "Work is not determined by rank," and emphasized, "The entire Presidential Office will collaborate to support the youth officers."

Earlier, Chief Presidential Secretary Kang Hoonshik, during a meeting of senior aides held that day, remarked, "Tomorrow, the youth officers will begin their first day," and requested, "Each senior office should work together with the youth officers to develop groundbreaking ideas and policies that break away from existing frameworks."
