Fine M Tech is showing strong performance. This is interpreted as being influenced by news that Samsung Electronics is closing in on Apple in the US market following the launch of its new foldable smartphones.
As of 3:05 p.m. on August 18, Fine M Tech was trading at 10,580 won, up 9.64% from the previous day.
According to Yonhap News and US-based CNBC, market research firm Canalys analyzed that Samsung Electronics' smartphone market share in the US rose to 31% in the second quarter of this year, up from 23% a year earlier, thanks to increased shipments. In contrast, Apple’s US market share fell from 56% to 49% during the same period.
CNBC evaluated that the success of Samsung Electronics’ smartphones has been influenced in large part by tariff policies under the Donald Trump administration, but also reflects Samsung’s ability to offer a wide range of product lines with various form factors and price points compared to competitor Apple.
In particular, CNBC analyzed that with Samsung Electronics launching its new foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Fold 7 and Flip 7, last month, a renewed battle for dominance in the US market between Samsung and Apple, reminiscent of 2014, could unfold.
Meanwhile, Fine M Tech manufactures backplate modules and built-in hinges for foldable display modules, with about 87% of its total sales generated overseas. Han Yonghee, a researcher at Growth Research, stated, "The short-term growth driver is the launch of Samsung Electronics’ 7th-generation foldable phone in the second half of this year, while in the long term, the entry of North American companies into the foldable market next year will be a key momentum."
