Average Salary for Female Employees at Naver: 78 Million KRW
Average Length of Service: 7.6 Years at Naver, 6 Years at Kakao
Naver's average employee salary for the first half of the year was found to be close to 100 million won.
According to the ICT industry and the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure system on August 18, Naver's average salary per employee for the first half of the year was tallied at 92 million won.
For male employees, the average salary exceeded 100 million won for the first time, reaching 101 million won. In the first half of last year, the average salary for male employees was 83 million won. This means the average salary for male employees increased by nearly 20 million won in just one year. The average salary for female employees was 78 million won, compared to 65 million won last year.
These figures include payments from RSUs (Restricted Stock Units) and gains from exercising stock options.
However, even when excluding gains from exercising stock options, there was no significant change in the average figures, indicating that stock option gains did not have a major impact on the overall average salary.
At Kakao, the average salary per employee for the first half of the year was calculated at 58 million won. The average salary for male employees was 64 million won, while female employees received an average of 49 million won.
The average length of service at Kakao was six years, while at Naver it was 7.6 years. A Naver representative explained, "Salaries appear relatively high in the first half of the year because performance bonuses are included."
Naver is known to pay performance bonuses of up to 50% of annual salary to all employees based on the previous year's performance evaluation at the beginning of each year. On average, this amounts to about 20% of the annual salary.
Another company representative added, "High salaries are likely concentrated among developer positions," and noted, "Salaries may vary depending on the job category."
