As Lotteria recently opened its first store in the United States, the treatment that U.S. soldiers received from the staff at this location has become a hot topic online. On August 18, various online communities and social networking services (SNS) were abuzz with reviews from U.S. soldiers who visited Lotteria's first American store, which opened in Fullerton, Los Angeles, California.

The video at the center of the attention is a 50-second short clip uploaded on August 16 by YouTuber Army Ahn, who has 270,000 subscribers, to his channel "ARMY AHN Korean American Soldier." Army Ahn visited Lotteria's first U.S. store at its grand opening together with his fellow soldiers. He shared his first impression, saying, "Even though we came after lunch hours, the line was incredibly long." The group stood in the long line and heard from a customer ahead of them that they had already been waiting for an hour. Then, a local Lotteria staff member approached and said, "Our manager told us to give you special treatment. What would you like to order?" The group ordered Bulgogi Burgers and Shrimp Burgers, and, guided by the staff, entered the store directly without waiting in line.

Army Ahn shared his personal review, saying, "It was only slightly different from Lotteria in Korea, but the taste was really similar." His fellow soldiers also enjoyed their first taste of Lotteria burgers. Viewers who watched the video commented, "What I envy most is the culture where everyone understands and accepts special treatment for soldiers as a matter of course," "The way the U.S. treats soldiers and veterans is truly admirable," "We should follow their example. Thank you to all the servicemen working hard even in this hot weather," and "If we gave such preferential treatment to soldiers in our country, it would probably lead to all sorts of complaints and uncomfortable conversations."

Previously, on August 14, Lotteria opened its first U.S. store in Fullerton, LA, an area with a large Korean and Asian population. The Fullerton location is a drive-thru (DT) store of about 20 square meters, featuring the phrase "Original K-Burger" and displaying the store name in Korean on the signboard. From August 11 to 13, a three-day "soft opening" event was held prior to the official launch. Although the store operated on a limited basis from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the event, long lines of customers formed even before the store opened, creating a bustling scene. The store attracted attention by providing free umbrellas and bottled water to customers waiting in the heat.
