The signing ceremony, held on the same day at the HD Hyundai Global R&D Center in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, was attended by Kim Sungjun, CEO of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, Yoon Poongyoung, President of SK AX, and executives and employees from both companies.

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, the intermediate holding company for HD Hyundai's shipbuilding division, is recognized for its high level of competitiveness in ship design and construction technology.

Under this agreement, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries will define tasks tailored to the characteristics of the shipbuilding and marine industries and provide an environment for validation. SK AX will leverage its experience in manufacturing AI to jointly design and develop AI models and optimize them for on-site conditions. The two companies will form a dedicated task force (TF) to jointly carry out all processes, including task identification, validation, technology advancement, and commercialization.

The core of this agreement is the establishment of a collaborative system for agentic AI-based AI technology. Through the agreement, the companies aim to apply AI throughout the entire process from ship design and production to delivery, thereby increasing productivity, reducing dependence on skilled workers, and enhancing safety.

To achieve this, the companies will pursue initiatives such as: the 'Design and Production Master Agent,' which integrates knowledge extraction and management technologies based on industrial analysis; the 'Lighthouse Factory Project,' based on SK Group's best practices; the expansion of public cloud adoption; and the establishment of collaborative models between the two companies.

Both companies expect that the agentic AI-based AX achievements resulting from this agreement will simultaneously improve productivity, quality, and safety indicators across the entire shipbuilding industry.

Kim Sungjun, CEO of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, stated, "Through this collaboration, we will innovate the entire design and production process with AI and become a company that leads both technology and quality in the global shipbuilding and marine markets."

Yoon Poongyoung, President of SK AX, said, "By combining the industrial expertise of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries with SK AX's manufacturing AI capabilities, transformative changes that could reshape the global shipbuilding industry are possible. Through agentic AI, we will establish the global standard for manufacturing AX, focusing on the shipbuilding and marine sectors."
