Creating a Safe Childcare Environment
Meal Service Hygiene Inspections Completed
The hygiene inspections of meal service facilities, which began on June 20 this year and continued until recently, have been completed. In Sejong, 291 daycare centers first conducted self-inspections, and for 44 centers where management was found to be insufficient, on-site inspections were carried out. These inspections were implemented as a preventive measure to protect children from various infectious diseases and food poisoning incidents.
According to Sejong City on August 17, the main inspection items included: compliance with food ingredient consumption deadlines; hygiene and cleanliness of cooks; whether preserved food samples were missing; fire, electrical, and gas safety management; and whether safety education was provided to childcare staff.
Violations identified during the on-site inspections-such as expired fire extinguisher usage periods, missed electrical equipment inspections, storage of items in emergency evacuation routes, and partial omission of preserved food samples, all due to insufficient understanding of regulations-were immediately corrected and addressed with thorough explanations.
