The police conducted a search at the plaza in front of the old Andong Station in Andong, North Gyeongsang Province, after receiving a report of a bomb threat. No explosives were found at the scene.
According to the North Gyeongsang Provincial Police Agency and other sources on August 15, a message was posted in the chat window of a YouTube live broadcast at around 7:37 a.m. that day, stating, "I will detonate a bomb at the old Andong Station plaza." At the time, a large number of citizens and broadcast staff were gathered at the location for the filming of "KBS Documentary 3 Days."
The police deployed officers from the nearby police substation, the initial response team from Andong Police Station, and the police special forces to control and search the area. No explosives were found during the search, and the site was cleared at around 10:20 a.m., approximately 2 hours and 50 minutes later.
The police are currently tracking the suspect who posted the bomb threat. If someone threatens to harm an unspecified number of people, they can be charged under the crime of public intimidation and face up to five years in prison or a fine of up to 20 million won.
