The largest indoor LED digital media display in Korea, 'Platform111', has been installed at Seoul Station. With an impressive size of 111 meters in length, 5.5 meters in height, and a total area of 610.5 square meters, KORAIL Distribution invested 5.6 billion won and completed four months of construction, launching its trial operation on August 12. Full-scale operations, including commercial advertisements, will begin on September 1. It is the largest commercial indoor digital billboard in Korea.

According to data compiled from Korea Railroad Corporation and Seoul Open Data Plaza on August 16, approximately 300,000 people use Seoul Station each day. It is a space with a high volume of floating and resident population. Due to the indoor environment where people’s attention is held for extended periods, advertising concentration is high, and its status as a 'core urban transfer hub' maximizes exposure effects.
Platform111 requires dedicated content production tailored to its ultra-large and high-resolution format. For special formats such as 3D anamorphic and immersive media art, in some cases, production costs may exceed the advertising placement fee. While the cost per advertisement is high, its overwhelming size and immersive experience strongly imprint brand images, making it likely to establish itself as a 'premium advertising stage.' According to KORAIL Distribution, global and luxury brands such as Samsung are preparing to run advertisements on the display.
Unlike most outdoor advertising in city centers, which is constrained by size and format regulations, Platform111 allows for free creative expression. It can accommodate experimental campaigns, artistic media art, and brand experience content-formats that are difficult to realize with existing media. The advertising industry has expressed high expectations, saying, "A stage has emerged in the heart of Seoul to showcase creativity and technological prowess."
There are already many examples where large-scale immersive media displays have become city landmarks and prime advertising spots, such as 'Outernet London' in the UK and 'The Sphere' in Las Vegas, USA. Platform111 is expected to evolve into a landmark media site in Seoul, creating value in both tourism and brand marketing.
A KORAIL Distribution official stated, "Platform111 is not just an advertising board, but a showcase where brands can simultaneously demonstrate creativity and technological prowess," adding, "It will serve as a turning point that transforms the landscape of the advertising market in downtown Seoul."
