Yangju City Holds "80th Anniversary of Liberation Joint Worship Service"

Yangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 14th that the "80th Anniversary of Liberation Joint Worship Service" was held on the 13th at the main auditorium of the Yangju Textile Comprehensive Support Center, organized by the Yangju Christian Council (President: Pastor Kang Seokbo).

This joint worship service was organized to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Liberation, honor the sacrifices of the patriotic martyrs, and reflect on the values of freedom and peace. The event was attended by Kang Seokbo, President of the Yangju Christian Council, its members, local church congregants, Yangju Mayor Kang Suhyeon, People Power Party Yangju Party Committee Chairperson Ahn Kiyoung, Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly member Park Jaeyong, Yangju City Council members Han Sangmin and Kang Hyesuk, and about 200 other participants.


The service began with praise, followed by the confession of faith, representative prayer, scripture reading, sermon, united prayer, offertory praise, congratulatory remarks, three cheers for Korea, singing of the national anthem, and benediction. Attendees took time to pray for the nation and reaffirm their unity in faith.


Kang Seokbo, President of the Yangju Christian Council, said, "We are grateful to God that local churches can worship together on the 80th anniversary of Liberation. I hope our faith will be used to establish justice and peace in this land, and that today's gathering will be a time for us to become a faith community united in prayer for our nation and local society."


Yangju Mayor Kang Suhyeon stated, "August 15, 1945, marks the day our people regained sovereignty after being liberated from Japanese imperial colonial rule. As we reflect on the meaning of Liberation, we must remember how today’s freedom and peace were built upon precious sacrifices. I express my deepest gratitude and respect to the patriotic martyrs and independence activists, and I hope all congregants will join in praying for the development of Yangju City and the unity of our churches."


Meanwhile, the Yangju Christian Council continues to promote harmony and development in the local community through the unity and exchange of local churches, and is carrying out various social service and faith-based activities.
