Dong-Eui Science University Department of Emergency Medical Services Conducts BLS Course

The Department of Emergency Medical Services at Dong-Eui Science University (President Kim Youngdo, Department Head Park Youngsoo) strengthened students' cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills by conducting the Basic Life Support (BLS) course, certified by the Korean Association of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, for 38 students scheduled for field training on August 12 and 14.

Dong-Eui Science University Department of Emergency Medical Services Conducts BLS Course On the 12th and 14th, the Department of Emergency Medical Services at Dong-Eui Science University conducted a Basic Life Support (BLS) course by the Korean Association of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for 38 students scheduled for field training. This training was organized to ensure that students fully understand the standard procedures for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and essential emergency care skills required in emergency medical settings, prior to their clinical practice in emergency medicine and ambulance ride-along training.

In particular, the program aimed to reinforce fundamental competencies so that students can respond quickly and accurately to cardiac arrest situations that may occur in the field.

The training was led by faculty members of the Department of Emergency Medical Services who are certified instructors by the Korean Association of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. The curriculum focused on core techniques such as adult CPR, the use of automated external defibrillators (AED), and airway obstruction management.

The session began with theoretical education on the principles and step-by-step procedures of CPR, followed by hands-on practice including team-based CPR and scenario-based role assignments. Through this, students not only improved their individual skills but also strengthened their communication and teamwork abilities for emergency situations requiring collaboration.

Individual practice and team-based mock scenarios were used to assess students' performance in real-life situations. All participants obtained the BLS Provider certification from the Korean Association of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation upon completion of the course.

Nam Yeho, a student who participated in the training, said, "This course gave me confidence in handling emergency situations I may encounter during field practice. Repeatedly practicing practical skills such as AED use and airway obstruction management was especially helpful."

Park Youngsoo, Head of the Department of Emergency Medical Services at Dong-Eui Science University, stated, "BLS training is an essential process for becoming a paramedic. We will continue to strengthen mandatory pre-practice training so that students are fully equipped to ensure patient safety in the field."

The Department of Emergency Medical Services at Dong-Eui Science University has achieved high national certification exam pass rates and employment rates through its practice-oriented curriculum, and continues to pursue ongoing development with the goal of training field-ready professionals.
