Taekgu Lee, Deputy Mayor for Government Economy and Science of Daejeon City, held a briefing on the national nano-semiconductor industrial complex at the Daejeon City Hall press room on August 13 and announced, "We plan to reapply for a preliminary feasibility study to KDI (Korea Development Institute) within this year."

The city had initially expected tenant demand for the industrial complex to be 300%, but KDI's survey showed it was only 10%. As a result, passing the preliminary feasibility study became virtually impossible, and Lee expressed the city's position following the announcement of the withdrawal.

Deputy Mayor Lee voiced his dissatisfaction, saying, "Prior to applying for the preliminary feasibility study, Daejeon City and LH conducted their own survey of potential tenants and found demand exceeding 400%, so it is simply unreasonable that KDI's survey result is only 10%."

He further criticized, "KDI completely disregarded all the demand survey results conducted independently by Daejeon City and LH, and only reflected the findings of its own new survey."

He added, "We will sign additional MOUs with companies with more than 300 employees, which KDI recognizes, and will negotiate with KDI to ensure that MOUs with companies in research and development and other sectors with fewer than 300 employees are also acknowledged. We will supplement the proposal and challenge the KDI preliminary feasibility study again."
