Uijeongbu City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Donggeun) held a roundtable meeting with the Gyeonggi Provincial Council on the 13th at the HoeRyeong Hall of City Hall to discuss and engage in in-depth consultations on major local issues and policy tasks.

The meeting was attended by Kim Seongnam and Lee Youngbong, co-leaders of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council's Legislative Policy Promotion Team, as well as provincial council members Kim Jeongyeong, Oh Seokgyu, and Choi Byeongseon. From the city, Mayor Kim Donggeun, Deputy Mayor Kang Hyunseok, and relevant department heads were present.


The purpose of this meeting was to strengthen the cooperative network between Gyeonggi Province and Uijeongbu City and to identify and promote policies that can contribute to improving the quality of life for local residents.


The agenda discussed included eight issues proposed by provincial council members: the creation of the Jangam Arboretum in Uijeongbu, maintenance of the Buyongcheon-Jungnangcheon promenade, the Buyongsan Healing Trail project, expansion of the rail transportation network, operation of the direct GTX-C line, resolving issues in the selection process for the public hospital site in northeastern Gyeonggi, and the establishment of a digital lifelong learning platform. In addition, three issues proposed by the city were discussed: designation of the Station Neighborhood Park as an urban innovation zone, construction of a bypass road at the Minlak Tollgate (TG), and the creation of a childcare facility cluster in the Gosan District.


The city especially addressed a wide range of topics across municipal administration, including the expansion of metropolitan rail networks, improvement of transportation infrastructure, strengthening of public healthcare services, and enhancement of living and environmental infrastructure. The city requested the active interest and support of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council to improve residents' quality of life and strengthen the city's competitiveness.


Mayor Kim Donggeun stated, "This roundtable is not just a briefing on current issues, but an opportunity to discuss practical implementation plans and reaffirm our commitment to cooperation with the provincial council. Moving forward, we will continue to lead the development of Uijeongbu and balanced growth in northern Gyeonggi through close collaboration."
