Hana Bank announced on the 13th that it had signed a business agreement with the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) for the activation of cross-national QR payment services at the Korea-Vietnam Business Forum, held on the 12th at the Crystal Ballroom of the Lotte Hotel Main Building in Seoul.

Through this agreement, Hana Bank plans to further strengthen digital financial cooperation between Korea and Vietnam, actively supporting both countries' citizens and businesses so they can conveniently and securely use financial services such as cross-national QR payment services and global settlement services.

Lee Hoseong, CEO of Hana Bank, stated, "The core of this agreement is the combination of Korea's advanced digital financial technology and Vietnam's extensive payment network," adding, "By establishing a cross-national QR payment ecosystem that benefits everyone, including small business owners and tourists, we will contribute to the economic growth of both countries."

Hana Bank established a strategic partnership in 2019 by acquiring a 15% stake in BIDV, and has since continued to pursue digital financial cooperation through its subsidiary, GLN International.

GLN, together with BIDV, launched a QR code-based cash withdrawal service in 2022. Through this service, Hana Bank allows customers to withdraw cash without a card at approximately 2,100 BIDV ATMs across Vietnam by scanning a QR code with the 'Hana One Q' app.

Meanwhile, the Korea-Vietnam Business Forum was held as part of the official visit to Korea by To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The event was attended by BIDV, which visited Korea as part of an economic delegation, key government officials from both countries, and 500 business leaders from Korea and Vietnam, all of whom confirmed the commitment to cooperation between Hana Bank and BIDV.
