The advisory group was formed with the goal of "establishing a sustainable virtuous-cycle AI innovation ecosystem" and consists of 20 leading experts from academia, industry, and research sectors. The group is organized into four divisions: AI ecosystem, administration, corporate development, and talent cultivation. Song Sanghyo, a professor at the School of Software in the College of IT at Soongsil University, has been appointed as the head of the advisory group.
Going forward, the advisory group will serve as a core think tank for Seongnam City's AI policies. Its main roles include designing the foundation for the AI industrial ecosystem, establishing the vision and strategy for the AI Innovation City, supporting the development and networking of AI innovation companies, identifying innovative services that citizens can experience directly, and preparing strategies for nurturing future key talent.
To systematically support the activities of the advisory group, Seongnam City has set up a dedicated administrative support team comprised of six departments. This support team will oversee the prompt implementation of tasks proposed by the advisory group and coordinate interdepartmental collaboration. The city aims to secure policy momentum to ensure that AI technology is integrated across administration, industry, and all aspects of citizens' daily lives.
In his greeting, Mayor Shin Sangjin stated, "We will lead the era of AI-driven change and make Seongnam the center of a sustainable virtuous-cycle AI innovation ecosystem." He added, "We will focus all administrative capabilities to support the advisory group's professional and creative proposals so that they can be translated into policies that genuinely improve citizens' lives."
Song Sanghyo, head of the advisory group, said, "By combining Seongnam City's outstanding AI infrastructure with the expertise of the advisory group, we will present policy models that can be implemented on the ground." He added, "We will do our utmost to make Seongnam an AI innovation city that citizens can truly experience."
Meanwhile, the advisory group, from its inception, is working to identify and promote short-term 'Quick-Win' projects aimed at delivering rapid results and enhancing citizens' sense of tangible progress. Based on these efforts, Seongnam City plans to accelerate the establishment of its own 'Seongnam-style AI innovation model' in the future.
