Building a Roadmap to Become Asia's No.1 in Cultural Content Education
Are you familiar with the 'Minerva Project,' which is breaking down the walls of traditional universities?
Dongseo University (President Jang Je-guk) has formed a strategic partnership with the Minerva Project, a symbol of global educational innovation.
On August 12, Dongseo University announced its plans to introduce a future-oriented educational system that goes beyond the conventional framework of university education. This collaboration is expected to serve as a key driver in realizing Dongseo University's vision of becoming "Asia's No.1 in the field of cultural content."
The Minerva Project, headquartered in San Francisco, USA, collaborates with educational institutions worldwide to integrate interdisciplinary curricula and cutting-edge technology, leading the way in future learning models. Minerva University has ranked No.1 globally in the World’s Universities with Real Impact (WURI) rankings for the past four years, surpassing institutions such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Stanford University, and Arizona State University (ASU).
Minerva University has restructured traditional lecture-based education by introducing a 'global rotation campus' instead of a physical campus, as well as the active online learning platform 'Forum™,' thereby transforming the educational paradigm. This model strengthens critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration skills, with 95% of graduates experiencing internships and over 90% successfully entering global companies or graduate schools.
Dongseo University has been a leader in field-based convergence education models, operating programs such as the Global Experiential Learning Sites (GELS) and the In-school Field System (IFS). Leveraging this partnership, the university plans to pursue learner-centered educational innovation more boldly and systematically, overcoming challenges that have been difficult to address within the traditional education system.
This agreement will also play a decisive role in the design and implementation of the core educational system for the so-called 'Stellar College of Arts,' which is scheduled to launch in 2027. The Stellar College of Arts will integrate Dongseo University's three specialized colleges?College of Design, Im Kwon Taek College of Film and Arts, and College of Media Contents?with the goal of nurturing creative, convergent talent suited to the AI era.
Through these efforts, Dongseo University aims to complete a new educational system that can flexibly respond to future industry demands by restructuring its curriculum, implementing strategic academic operations, and establishing a sustainable educational feedback system.
To commemorate this collaboration, Ben Nelson, founder and CEO of Minerva University, will visit Dongseo University on August 12 to sign the agreement in person. On August 13, he will deliver a special lecture to key academic administrators and faculty, fostering a deep consensus on the new educational philosophy and direction.
Ben Nelson emphasized, "The partnership with Dongseo University will be an important milestone in integrating innovative educational models into the future of higher education in Korea."
President Jang Je-guk stated, "This partnership will be a decisive turning point for Dongseo University in realizing its vision of becoming 'Asia's No.1 in the field of cultural content.' We will boldly introduce new educational methods and systems that do not exist elsewhere, completing an unparalleled educational innovation that surpasses the limitations of traditional higher education."
